Tis monsoon time in Mumbai and believe me when I say that this time of the year is the most bustling one with activities in whole of Maharashtra. I can specially vouch for the urban folks in cities like Mumbai, Pune, Nasik etc. Monsoon is the best time to plan your weekends, go out and relax in the lap of nature and be away from the hustle and bustle of the city, either alone, with friends or with family. To make the most of it, I went on a trekking expedition.
I love trekking and recently got an opportunity to trek in the serene mountains outside Mumbai. Mumbai Travellers managed this trek. They had a team of 4 dedicated and energetic leaders, namely Parag, Nikita, Mayuri & Vinayak. They were constantly on their toes and lead the group wonderfully.
Coming to the trek, we started from Karjat in the morning and our trekking route was through several hills, small waterfalls and jungles. Our aim was to reach the One Tree Hill which is a sight-seeing point in Matheran.
Matheran is a hill station situated in the outskirts of Mumbai. It is a paradise for the Mumbaikars who are in search of peace, pollution free environment and some good adventure. Matheran has 28 points and One Tree Hill is one of them. It’s the most preferred route by trekkers and also the most adventurous one of them all. Here, you will find small trails surrounded by some dense forest.
The trek route was challenging for me, as I had done my last trek some 8 years back and over this time and with a 11 months baby, my physical endurance was surely at test. It was exhausting but rejuvenating. It was breath-taking but awesome. Overall, it was an amazing experience. More so, I am looking forward to more such activities in future.
And this is what I wore for the trek. A simple and comfortable tee and capri with Nike shoes. Remember a good pair of shoe is imperative to keep you grounded and avoid skidding. For makeup, I again kept it simple with my Lakme Eyeconic Kajal and Avon Cherry Lipbalm. I did not wear any foundation, sunglasses or excessive jewellery. Also remember not to carry your MP3 players/ Ipods. Remain close to the nature guys, listen to natural music (winds, rustling of leaves, rivers, waterfalls, birds chirping). Also remember to carry a hand towel, lots of water to drink and preferably a bottle of energy drink.
Hope you enjoyed reading my experience. Do share if you have ever done a trek. How was the experience? Will you do it again?
Till then, Share the love! ♥ ☮
